Program details and qualifications
We are looking for motivated and open-minded self-starters with a willingness to succeed and a keen interest in the transportation industry. Candidates who complete our company-sponsored driver-training program begin a rewarding full time career with Reimer Express Lines Ltd.
Education: Grade 12 diploma achieved.
Minimum age requirement of 21 years.
Previously employed and positive work history for the last five years. Positive references from previous employer.
Clean driving abstract (Current copy to be provided).
Clear criminal record search (Current copy to be provided).
Bondable
Must be able to enter the United States (Have not been refused entry to US).
Currently holds a class five drivers license in good standing and has been actively driving (May be required to take a class five road evaluation).
Must obtain Class One and Airbrake Authorized Instruction prior to beginning the training.
Must meet all DOT requirements US & CDN:
Must qualify for and maintain FAST Certification (Free and Secure Trade). Application for the FAST Card will be made at the beginning of the Driver-Training Program and all fees associated with the application will be the responsibility of the applicant.
After completion of the class one Driver Training Program the applicant must be able to complete a road evaluation, demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer unit. (Pre-Trip, Air Brake, Coupling & Un-coupling, Road Test & Backing Exercise, etc.). Demonstrate knowledge of Highway Traffic Act & Hours of Service Test (Must achieve 75% on test).
Attend four-and-half (4 1/2) days orientation.
Demonstrate knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Truck and successfully pass a TDG Quiz.
Good command of the English language, verbal and written (Level 6).
Must be willing to drive as a team.
Willing to drive CND & U.S. and to be away from home up to 2 weeks.
All of the above are non-conditional requirements for entrance into the Reimer Express Lines-sponsored Driver-Training Program.
The applicant must be willing to sign a contract with Reimer Express Lines Ltd. and hereby agree to the terms of the contract. This contract can be received upon request.
Should you fail to pass the training program in the allotted training time frame of 8 weeks, you will be responsible for any additional training cost.
