- We are the only carrier to maintain a dedicated full-time staff of Border Ambassadors at major border crossings between the U.S. and Canada.
- With our own Preview® System, in combination with the Pre-Arrival Review System, PARS, clearance procedures are completed before your shipment arrives at the Canadian border.
- We're the first LTL carrier to integrate our customer information system with Canada Customs.
- Our Status Notification System (RSNS) transmits clearance information directly to our mainframe computer.
- Border crossings take minutes, compared to the days it often takes to clear freight at an inland sufferance warehouse.
We are CSA (Customs Self-Assessment) certified by Canada Customs
- CSA Carrier certification received December 11, 2001, from Canada Customs, just one week after the program was officially available for use by approved clients.
- Our drivers that cross the U.S./Canada border are CSA-certified.
- To participate in the program, approved importers must use CSA-certified carriers with CSA-certified drivers to transport their qualifying goods into Canada.
- Because of the intense application process required to achieve CSA carrier certification, customers can be assured that their international shipments are secure with Roadway and Reimer.
We are now a C-TPAT/PIP FAST certified carrier.
- Reimer Express and parent company Roadway Express Inc. are now FAST certified. A full description of these certifications may be found under our Border Security pages.
Our EDI participation with Canada Customs improves service
- We were the first of the major LTL carriers in North America to exchange shipment and conveyance-level data with Canada Customs through their new EDI system in August 2002.
- We provide necessary data electronically to Canada Customs before our trucks reach the border.
- By transmitting this pre-arrival data, Canada Customs receives more data earlier in the process, which aids them in improving international border security and permits better targeting of high-risk shipments for physical inspections.
- At the border, a customs officer simply scans a bar code and the driver's registration card at the primary inspection lane, which is enough for Customs to authorize our truck to proceed. The entire process takes just seconds to complete.
- Paper documents that were previously required from the carrier by Canada Customs at the border have become obsolete.
- This revolutionary new technology has virtually eliminated border delays for our company.
S.O. warehouse licenses at Reimer terminals help speed deliveries
- Reimer terminals have been granted special warehouse licenses by Canada Customs.
- This allows customs-bonded shipments to be transported directly to our terminals, then immediately placed out for delivery when the electronic customs release notification is received.
- Paper documents that were previously required have been eliminated for most of these shipments.
- Additional handling and transportation of the bonded goods to customs sufferance warehouses is no longer required.
